A trip to Denmark

The full stop is not the end — it’s the beginning of an era.

Life is a rollercoaster. Sometimes you’re at the highest peak, and sometimes you’re down in the valley. But no matter where you are, you never give up on what you’re doing. And here it was — the first outing of our long-awaited college life.

At first, I tried every possible way to escape hostel life. For me, hostel was just… hostel — and not in a charming way. My friends felt the same. Our only escape was the once-a-month permission to vacate the hostel for necessities. Sundays were a no-go; the restrictions were humongous. Honestly, our first year felt no different from school. But once we stepped into the second year, things finally started to feel like college — and this first outing was the cherry on top.

Oh yes, our outing! The joy was beyond words. We planned it like master thieves, drawing out a little “heist map” of freedom. The Eight Crooks, as we fondly called ourselves, transformed into pretty princesses and stealthily made our way — first out of the hostel gates, then out of the college campus itself. That thrill… priceless. Even if God Himself offered us a gift, we would still choose the joy of going outside.

And we fully utilized our four golden hours.

First stop: St. John Britto Church — an hour of peace and quiet. Then, it was off to the most-awaited place on our list: Denmark. Yes, hostel food had turned even the pickiest among us into die-hard foodies (I’m living proof 😁). From flaky parottas to sizzling tandoori, we devoured it all. With satisfied stomachs, we took a quick walk and dove headfirst into our next mission — shopping. We bought… and bought… and bought! 🛍️🛍️ Then came snacks at a bakery, followed by sweet, chilled watermelon juice 🧃 — pure bliss.

Our outing was basically a photo album of eating and buying. In that short span, we managed to cover both ends of the town like pros. But time, as always, raced ahead of us. At the end, we were running back — like lions with full stomachs — just to clock in before curfew. Thank God we made it! A few minutes later, and our freedom would have been suspended. Lesson learned: time management is not optional, it’s survival 😂.

That first outing didn’t just give us memories; it strengthened our friendship and taught us small but meaningful lessons about life. As I look back, I truly believe:

“It’s always the little things that bring the biggest changes in life.”

This wasn’t just a day out. It was the beginning of a new era.

The reflectors of life 🪞🪞

Have you ever dreamt of strange things while sleeping?

I haven’t — but a friend of mine has, and quite often. Her dreams are so vivid and peculiar that when she describes them, we’re left completely speechless. She somehow manages to pull in everything around her — subjects, college, department, family, hostel — into a dreamland of pure chaos. The plots usually make no sense and they almost always end abruptly. Honestly, if anyone needs inspiration for a surreal storyline, people like her are a goldmine of ideas!

But it makes me wonder — what really causes us to dream?
Is it the movies we watch? The books we read? The people we interact with?
There’s no single answer. The sources of influence are many, and different for each person. Our brain has an incredible capacity to store even the tiniest pieces of information, even if we’re not consciously aware of them. The strange part? When we actually try to recall something, it often escapes us — yet it suddenly surfaces in the most unexpected ways, like in a dream.

It’s scientifically known that vivid and memorable dreams occur during REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep. These strange dreams are often linked to heightened levels of neurotransmitters like dopamine and acetylcholine. Processes such as memory segregation, emotional processing, and even stress responses can contribute to the creation of dreams.

Now, don’t get me wrong — dreams aren’t just random stories. They can actually help us in problem-solving, emotional healing, and even goal setting. But we don’t always remember them. A deep and sound sleep increases the chances of dreaming, but that doesn’t guarantee we’ll recall them when we wake up.

In the end, dreams do more than just entertain or confuse us — they reflect our inner thoughts, emotions, and experiences. They can be messengers, motivators, and sometimes, even silent guides in our journey toward success.

So, never underestimate a dream.
And most importantly — don’t forget to dream. 🌙✨
